On the proposal of Renoir he took part in 1877 at the 3rd Impressionist exhibition. At the same time he was in the presence of the by Caillebotte in the 6, Rue Pelletier organized exhibitions.
He had previously studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and met Renoir.
Cordey was also closely related to Guillaumin, Pissarro and Sisley.
In 1887 he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, and later at the Salon d'Automne.
His landscape oil paintings are mostly subjects of the Oise river at Auvers, Pontoise and Eragny. Cordey was considered wealthy and painted really only when he wanted it. Corresponding rarity have his artworks.
